Three-year Development Plan

The following represents the Board's next three-year development plan as revised in Spring 2007:

  1. Fish Processing Dock Revitalization
    1. Implement short term management guidelines to protect people and facilities.
    2. Identify funding for a phased repair or reconstruction solution.
    3. Complete the project within 3 years, the expected remaining life of the dock.
  2. Multi-purpose Dock Construction
    1. Finalize a phased project concept.
    2. Seek private sector support for dock utilization including barges, water tankers and cruise ships.
  3. Marine Industries
    1. Complete a market study to determine the need for marine industries development at the Industrial Park.
  4. Site Improvements
    1. Prioritize the funding of a new plat, road paving, landscaping, security, Boat Company property acquisition, dock(s) demolition, and cove dredging or filling.
  5. Bulk Water
    1. Continue to market bulk water focusing on recent improvements such as the bulk water pipeline.
    2. Facilitate the startup of the TAB bulk water operation by supporting TAB’s applications for permits.
  6. Administration Building
    1. Establish a published lease schedule for the building.
    2. Increase local marketing efforts to attract tenants.
  7. Stores Building
    1. Identify the appropriate parcel of land to service the future users of the building.
    2. Recommend to the Assembly that the City market the Stores Building for sale.
  8. Herring Cove
    1. Continue to promote Herring Cove as a site for a future harbor.
    2. Evaluate mixed-uses for the site including house boats, yachts, and bear hunting boats.
